The Griffith's Gnat is a classic dry fly designed to imitate clusters of small midges and midge emergences. It features a sparse, thread-wrapped body—often black or gray—tapered to a fine thorax and finished with a sparse hackle that sits low on the water, producing a natural, delicate silhouette and subtle surface disturbance. Lightweight and easy to cast, this fly works exceptionally well in stillwaters and slow runs where midge hatches are prevalent, making it a reliable choice for targeting picky trout during tight-line or dry-fly presentations.
