The Zebra Midge is a small, highly effective nymph pattern prized by trout anglers for imitating midge larvae and pupae in both stillwaters and rivers; typically tied with a slim, dark body accented by a contrasting paler rib or thorax to create the "zebra" striping, it fishes well when swung, dead-drifted, or twitched under an indicator, and its subtle profile and sparse silhouette match the natural midge lifecycle stages that trout key on, making it a go-to choice in clear water, cold conditions, and when fish are feeding selectively on tiny prey.
